NO OTHER PERSON BUT YOU.
In life, you'll get to a point where no one else but you matters. I'm not saying this in a self-conceited, narcissistic way but in a rather reflective manner. Read along with me.
Bruno had his exams coming up faster than he'd imagined. He had hoped for it to be delayed by some form of academic diversion, a strike or even by divine means but no, it just came closer and closer. He wouldn't have been worried about it if he was prepared for it but he wasn't. Everyone thought he was and his classmates kept hailing him cos he looked smart but only he knew what he was going through.
One day, he tried to tell his best friend about it but he laughed at him so hard, Bruno felt embarrassed. Bruno wished his friend wouldn't joke about it but he did. His friend just didn't believe that ''smart Bruno"was in a fix.
He tried to tell his mom about it but somehow even though she nodded her head when he spoke, he knew that she didn't really understand him. His dad was not an option.
His siblings were far to little to even dream of understanding him.
He prayed about it but it seemed like God was far away. The only thing that came out of the prayer was a word about a king named David who encouraged himself when all was lost around him. It didn't seem right to Bruno. He thought people were supposed to be the ones encouraging him but this was new.
As the exam drew closer and his hopes waned, he tried to make himself happy but it didn't work. The huge work load stared him in the face every waking moment until one night when he was finally driven to tears he remembered David and that was it.
He aced it that semester. Yep, he did. Cos in the end, when all else fails, when men fail you and God gives you a word, it is only you that can help yourself. The case may be different for you, you might be in a fix at the office, in your family, your relationship and everyone else thinks you've got it under control and so they don't bother to see your tears through tour smiles or hear your cries in your laughter. In such moments YOU determine what to do with the word you received. YOU determine whether to stay in the mud of self-pity or whether to rise up and make things happen. Sometimes, nobody but you can encourage yourself.
Blessings!
