ABOUT THE DROUGHT 3

Image
The days after Olly's mama passed on were hard. His father looked like a man who had lost all hope and the desire to hope. The farm was soon overtaken by the drought and they had nothing to fall back on. There was an overbearing gloom in the house and it all fell on Olly. He was too young to understand that his mama had gone on a trip that she would never return. So, on some occasions,  he found himself calling out to her  around the house.  One cold night,  Olly was wrapped up in a night mare. It was so scary and Olly wanted above all things to wake up but he felt withered tendrils hold him down. It was dark in this dream such that he couldn't see his own hands. When he struggled and failed he screamed till he woke up. He quickly ran to his parent's bed chamber to be held by his mama but when he got there,  there was no one. He ran around the dark house in fear,  calling out for his mama but there was no answer. He was scared now more than ever...

ABOUT THE DROUGHT 2

Image
Olly's father was pained. His flower was fading away right before his eyes and there was nothing he could do to stop it. She, at a point in their lives had blossomed more than the fairest daffodils in the land,  her beauty was incomparable, her scent was more than fresh roses and her smile could cause ships to set sail; she always set his ship to sail. Now,  as he watched her sleeping, his flower looked nothing like she used to. This pained him. He wished he could bring back all the years that had gone so he could spend more time with her. He worked too hard but she worked harder and maybe that's why she fell ill again. The doctor said she was allergic to the field but they couldn't help it. She had to help her husband on the farm so they could sell their crops and eat what was left. She had fallen ill three times before but had gotten better; this time,  it seemed her body couldn't fight it anymore. " I see the lines on your forehead  dear, still worry i...

ABOUT THE DROUGHT

Image
The leaves were dying and the streams were drying up fast. His father's farm was doing better than most but lately,  the worry lines on his father's face started appearing. He knew that if their farm was swallowed up by the impending drought, they would have nothing else to fall back on. Mom had hay fever again and this time looked really deplorable. She looked nothing at all like the mama he'd grown up to know. Her chubby frame had disappeared like the bloom of the flowers in their neighbour's garden had disappeared. She just lay there, coughing and coughing. There was a smell too and this irritated Olly. His papa on the other hand,  was undeterred. They had little money left,  all they had had been put in to taking care of her. Olly hated the fact that mama had to fall ill now and take all the money. This wasn't the first time she'd fallen ill but it seemed that this time,  she wasn't planning on getting better. What baffled Olly was his P...

OLANMA: KINGDOMS AT PEACE

"What? And you didn't bundle the princess and bring her back?!" exclaimed Agu after he heard the warriors' story. "My king, do not trouble yourself. The gods had said the princess will return safely and they can't lie, not against their own." Ikuku assured. "So your majesty, we must plan a journey to Obanga land as soon as possible" Arinze suggested. The king, few chiefs, his guards and warriors set out for Obanga. They arrived after three days of journeying. Olanma was so thrilled to see her father and people. The King and his chiefs were led into the court where they had a long talk with King Zunne and his chiefs. Finally, it was time to go. Olanma had mixed feelings. She wanted to go back home but she had made a home in Obanga in those few weeks. She bade her new friends goodbye and entered her carriage. About two months later, Ekimze received royal visitors from Obanga. The entourage was led by King Zunne himself. He had come with his ...

OLANMA: RESCUE HALTED

Olanma took the warriors to a corner and narrated what had happened. It turned out that she was taken to heal Zuntu, the Prince of Obanga. Zuntu has been struck with a strange ailment and Otuma the priestess had heard from the gods. They had said the only solution to the ailment lied in Ekimze, with Princess Olanma. She could hear the spirits and they can tell her what could be done to save him. Since all people feared the inhabitants of Obanga, they had just one option and that was to adopt Olanma. A dialogue was not a valid option as the Prince had only three days to live. The warriors were convinced that their princess was not under a spell. One of them had blown a powdery substance Ikuku gave them to counter any spell cast upon any one. They returned to meet the King of Obanga. "My brave warriors, I and my people are deeply sorry for taking your princess. We cannot be right on this matter but I believe you understand the circumstance. Please return to Ekimze and tell your k...

OLANMA: THE RESCUE

The rescue warriors were confused by what they were seeing. The princess looked so happy like it was any other day in Ekimze. She and her maid must be under some kind of spell, after all this is Obanga land. The warriors crept into the palace but were unfortunate. Two heavily armed guards spotted them and moved to attack. The battle ready warriors of Ekimze also drew out their sword and assumed a battle formation. Before any blood would be spilled, an order came from the court. It was King Zunne, he ordered his men to stand down. The little drama had spread through the palace compound and Olanma and her maids were soon at the scene. She was surprised to see the warriors from Ekimze holding their swords still ready for a fight and they were surprised that she was not happy to see them. "My princess, we have come to rescue you" Ikemba said. Before any other word could be said, King Zunne of Obanga spoke. "Warriors of Ekimze, please let us not strife. Put down your swo...

There was a green house. Inside the green house there was a white house. Inside the white house there was a red house. Inside the red house there were lots of babies. What is it?
