BACK HOME 5 (THE END)

Hana had finally made it to the hospital where her father was kept. He had been ill for a while and received letters from the hospital telling her to visit him as it would help him get better but she only posted the bill payments to the hospital. She never wanted to see him again. But now,  his condition seemed critical and it seemed like he was going to pass on so she decided to pay her respects, after all he was her father.
When she got to his room and saw him lying there helpless, she was filled with bitter rage against him. He took her childhood from her and has lived to an old age. He marred her conscience and has enjoyed his free will. She hated every bit of him. She wished he died by her hands wrapped round his neck so tight that his throat would squeeze in her grip. But she reminded herself that this was not His way, it was not to be her way as well.
She got to his bed side, he looked peaceful. Why wouldn't he be? He has had his cake and has eaten it, and he is about to eat yours as well. Turn around and leave him to die. A strange voice spoke to her. Her conscience didn't allow her obey the voice. She was pained but he must have suffered too.
She was about to leave when she felt a weak grip on her wrist. Don't go Hana. She turned to him and a certain sorrow filled her heart.
I've always known that your heart is whiter than mine. I'm sorry for the things I did to you. For the pain and sorrow. He gave out terrible cough and continued. There is nothing I can do to take the past out of your mind but I guess all I'm saying is that I'm sorry. Please, find it in your heart to forgive me so I can at least die knowing that you have forgiven me. He sounded evidently weak.
She was crying, she didn't know what to do. It seemed he had just asked her to tear out her past and give him to take with him. She didn't like this at all. He raped you all your life and now wants you to forgive him? Is his head screwed on right? You'd be a fool to forgive him. If this would be the only vengeance you get for his wickedness then don't forgive him. It was the strange voice again. She had just fallen into a dilemma and was at a loss on what choice to make. In His light we have life. Came a thought. It passed over her like a sweet cool breeze. She really didn't want to give her father the satisfaction of her forgiveness but she really wanted to be free.
It hit her then, this was her last victory. She wiped her eyes, causing her mascara to smear the back of her hand. She held his wilting hand and in one painful moment said to him I forgive you and I love you. There was a weak smile across his tired face.
She wept even harder now but there was something else happening. She felt his life slip away from his hand that she held. Her father was gone. He held on till he heard those words and was gone. She fell to the ground and wept even more. She didn't know why she wept but she did. In her tearful state she didn't see the person at the door.
The doctor and pastor stood by and watched the whole scene. While her father was being covered up, the pastor told her of her late father's transfiguration. Despite His forgiveness, your father needed yours and without it, he felt he would die after death. Thank you for your sacrifice.
Once again, she walked out of the hospital a more-than free woman. She was ready to live again.
As she walked to the car, someone stood by it. He had bashed into her car a little and wanted apologising to her in person. She found him curious. Something about him made her quiver. She had never felt this way about anything or anyone. That look in his eyes made her shy.
Steve left the parking lot willing and knowing he wanted to meet her again.

From the writer,
Forgive, no matter how hurt you are.
Let go, be free from the weight that comes with unforgiveness.
Remember that in forgiveness, the forgiver benefits most.
