THE UNTHINKABLE 6
By “My dear child”, she spoke with a voice evidently blessed with age, but it sounded graceful. “Yes mother” her daughter responded. “This is the experience of all those who in Christ. They must decide to let go of the world and their addictions. They must accept the love of Christ by accepting him. Once that is done, they become bound to Christ and are one with Him, body, soul and spirit. It can be likened to marriage, where a woman must, if she is to be joined to her love, detach herself from her family, friends and any other commitment that would be contrary to her marriage. If she must be joined to him, she must be separated from others. It’s not an easy thing to do and that’s why one must count the cost if one must pay the price. Jesus will only come into our hearts as long as we let Him. He gently knocks and waits for us to respond. On the other hand, the devil also knocks and would also come in as long as we let him in. He does not come peacefully, he comes only to steal our peace and destroy our relationship with God.”
She cleared her throat and waited to hear her daughter’s response but there was none.
Finally, the teenager spoke, almost breathlessly.
“Mom, He’s been knocking for a long time now. I want to let him in.”
Her mother was overjoyed that her daughter wanted to accept Jesus into her life. She held her daughter’s hand, while she led her in prayers to her Lord. The young girl wept. But her mother knew that her daughter’s tears were a sign that the Lord was now in her daughter’s life.
