SOMETHING SINISTER 3
So far, it seemed all was going well and the couple had enough time to settle in the new community where they stayed. Jane got to know some of her neighbours and found new places to purchase household stuff. The going seemed to be going well until late one night when she heard a sound.
Mark wasn't home because he had to work late; this was the cross she had to bear in place of the rude postings and bear it she did. She recalled how his presence always made her feel safe and how his absence had made her a bit paranoid. She didn't believe in myths or any form of mysticism but she had heard a lot about this place. So much so that she began to doubt her theories about the metaphysical. Just like now, the sound she heard came back again. She tried hard not to analyse the sound in her head; she didn't want to think about where it came from or what made the sound but her mind, like any troublesome creature, did whatever it liked to do. Now she was robed in scary thoughts about the sound she'd just heard and she was scared. She wished he was here to at least go seek out the source of the sound or to hold her close to himself till she could fall asleep again but all she had was her blanket and the pillow. She was at a loss this night. She tried calling him on his cell phone but it didn't pull through. The light had been turned off and her imagination started playing tricks on her. But wait! Who was that standing in the corner of her bedroom! Who was that? She felt blood flow down her spine causing goose pimples to emerge on every part of her. She closed her eyes and when she opened them it was gone. Her heart pounded in fear. She stumbled for her Bible or something to make her feel safe but none of them worked. She plugged her ears and turned up the volume of the music till it was almost deafening and then she shut her eyes tight and tried to banish the demonic thoughts that plagued her. The morning seemed so far away, so so far away.
