THE GROWING YEARS: CRYBABY
Nobody likes failing, not even the weak. Jake was not out of the class of those who dislike failing but his was too extreme. He would cry following the loss of a game or an argument, and he would cease talking to whoever was involved. He was just a naive little boy who didn't know better.
As he grew older, Jake realized that failing is part of life. It contributes to what gives meaning to living. In order not to fail we learn, we develop and invest in ourselves, we believe. He no longer saw failing as inability to do the expected but an opportunity to be better than he was. He stopped his crying streak and went on being better.
